I am looking for an encoder to convert divx to mpeg2 to record on DVD.
Do you know of a downloadable program that can do this or a complete
program that has a encoder in it to the complete job?

Hi,

Hi I've found a shareware program that costs $48 to register. It will
convert DivX to MPEG 2. But you will need a separate program to burn
it to DVD. What do you think?

Thanks.

Hi tazzdevil,

thanks for an interesting question about intriguing technology.

The simplest way for you to make DVDs from DivX files is to use an
all-in-one solution. I recommend Ulead DVD MovieFactory 2, which is
available for a free 30-day trial with the full version downloadable
for $45. This software will allow you to import DivX files and then
burn a DVD or CD:

A down-and-dirty guide to using DVD Moviefactory 2 can be found here:

Pinnacle Systems makes an equivalent product called Instant CD/DVD
which is available for $99:

Alternatively, you can do the conversion with one piece of software
and then burn with another. A general guide to this process is
available from TechTV:

clarification. If you do require clarification, please allow me to
provide it before you rate this answer.
