I'm having an odd problem which just started. I'm running xp
professional on a ibm thinkpad X30.

When a wireless network is present, it takes about 5 minutes for xp to
log on after the use name and password is entered.

After logon is completed, wireless networking works great, but when I
click on "view available wireless networks", all options except
"cancel" are greyed out and no available networks display.

Now, when I bought this computer none of these problems existed.

1) Why does log on take so long
2) Why is view available wireless networks all blank and unusable

And what do I do about it?

Hi,

For 1), is it possible that the configuration of the network has been
changed somehow?
If so some more information about this network would be appreciated.

Failing that, have you tried reverting to a restoration point if this
was very recent? You would lose any system changes you made since that
restoration point though.

If you don't want to do that, have you tried reinstalling the drivers
for the network card? Looking at the Microsoft site, you should be
able to configure your card by going to 'View available wireless
networks', unless your card doesn't support this. But since this
worked before, I'm assuming that there's been a driver glitch
somewhere.

Please let me know what you think.

Thanks.
