a yippekayay TGIF to ya kids!

I'll get right to my dilemma ... when gran needed a mental pick-me-up,
she'd take a whiff of her pink grapefruit refresher oil straight from
the bottle. I think it was made by Aromatique or Seasons (I'm leaning
towards Seasons). I've tried to hunt this down in stores and several
people have told me that it's been discontinued.

here's the aromatique link, BTW:
http://www.aromatique.com

are there any places on the net where pink grapefruit refresher oil
goes to die like a discontinued perfume/lipstick?

yeah, I'd *begrudingly* accept a substitute but I know how this
particular oil packed a pungent punch that would send gran into a very
pleasant orbit, so I hope you can find it for me. PLEASE.

much obliged!
GB

p.s. see how granny's wiggin' ... should you find this elusive oil,
we'll have to work out a code where to place the answer. gran doesn't
wanna repeat the Durckheim Episode. who knew people would pounce on
that book?

BTW, here's what the Seasons packaging looked like:

thanks a million, PF! I'll order a few scents from the Tradewinds
place today. they certainly fit gran's budget but she has a very
discriminating snout. once I sample them, I'll post you a separate
question and give you a full report. sound fair?

in the meantime, since no one can find the Aromatique/Seasons PG oil,
I'll also pay for contact information for whomever owns the Seasons
line of products. I hope that will be an easier "get."

thanks for all your hard work. you're truly appreciated!

I could not find pink grapefruit oil from Seasons or Aromatique.

How about some plain ol' essential oil, like this?

http://www.healthy-sunshine.com/pink-grapefruit.htm

I keep a whole shelf stocked with pungent, wonderful essential oils
that I use as mood-adjusters. I either dab a little on my pulse-points
to surround myself with a cloud of fragrance, or (in emergencies) just
sniff a delicate snootful straight from the bottle. It's safer than
booze and cheaper than Prozac. ;-)

Nice price on some pink grapefruit oil here. Only $2.50 an ounce, or
$17.50 for a pint (can you imagine how long a pint of fragrance oil
will last??!)

Pink Grapefruit
Absolutely Tart and Sweet. This fragrance is exactly like a fresh
Grapefruit cut in half, it's fragrance is strong and perfect! As one
of our testers said "It's so real, when you sniff it, you can TASTE
it!"

I wonder if a local aromatherapy-type apothecary's shop might be the
best way to find your fragrance? By making a personal visit to a
brick-and-mortar shop, you will be able to sample the wares and choose
something that is just right.

Hiya Gran :)

This US site has pink grapefruit oil (10ml, about a third of an ounce)
for US$5.27:

http://www.kobashi.to/aroma-therapy/essentialoil/grapefruit_10ml.html

A bit pricey but I have bought the exact same product from their UK
site (for my soap making efforts) and it is really quite exquisite.

http://www.kobashi.co.uk/shopping/essentialoil/grapefruit_10ml.shtml

Delivery from the US site costs US$5.10 to anywhere in the world and
average delivery time is stated as "7 days".

hello magnesium, dear boy. thanks for your interest in gran's
question. I have been to every brick-and-mortar store in the area.
for some unknown reason grapefruit just isn't a very popular scent.
don't know why because it's very invigorating. Glade recently put out
a grapefruit stick-up but they don't last very long. I don't know
what compression process the Seasons company used but it was a damn
fine one. it's difficult, if not impossible to shop for something
like this on the web, but thought I'd give it a shot.

jem, you sweetie. thanks for the info. I ordered from Pinkie's
distributor but the stuff seemed more fragrance-y than oil and gave
gran a colossal headache. not Pinkie's fault. you just never know
till you try something. the Seasons oil was priced $8.50 and that was
about 8-10 years ago, so I'd expect what I'm looking for to cost in
the neighborhood of $15-20 now. one or two drops of this stuff lit up
a whole room. I think I'll try to contact the Seasons company through
the link above and I'll let you know if I have any luck. thanks so
much for the info though. gran's sorry she's such a persnickety pain
in the ass.

Hiya Granny...

I was researching a holistic therapist who uses essential oils
in her practice, and it turns out she uses a company who has a
reasonably priced Grapefruit Oil, described thusly:

"(Ctirus x paradisi) works as a mild disinfectant. Diffuse for
a refreshing, uplifting aroma. Like many cold-pressed citrus oils,
 it has unique fat-dissolving characteristics."

"How to use: Diffuse or apply topically. Add to food or soy or rice
milk as a dietary supplement or flavoring. CAUTION: Citrus oils
should NOT be applied to skin that will be exposed to direct
sunlight or ultraviolet light within 72 hours."

A 15ml bottle sells for $11. The fact that it's edible implies a
certain purity of product.

Young Living Oils' website is here:
http://www.youngliving.us/

You'll have to click on 'Product Line' -> 'Essential Oils' and
again on the 'Essential Oils' button to view their pricelist.

But the therapist I mentioned, Adi Hanson, sells the same
bottle for $9, here:
http://www.adi-hanson.com/Essential%20Oils%20e.htm

Naturally I thought of Granny's question.
Hope that helps!

If Jimmy Cagney were around, you wouldn't need to settle for "refresher oil"...

you dirty rat! I may have to resort to strapping a fresh grapefruit
to my muzzle.

thanks everyone for all your kind suggestions but I'd better take the
magman's advice and hit the bricks and mortar again. surely
redoubling my efforts I'll locate something aromatically satisfying in
this burb.

again, thanks for all your efforts!
