The album "Be True to You" by folk singer Eric Andersen was released
as a record in the early 70s. Has it ever been made into a cd? If so,
where can I buy it on-line or where, in Manhattan, New York City can I
buy it? I have not been able to find it anywhere.

Hi frizzy-ga,

"Be True to You" has not been issued as a CD according to the
All-Music Guide.

http://www.allmusic.com/cg/amg.dll?p=amg&uid=CASS70305151540&sql=Adjfixqr5ldfe

Of the ten songs on the album, seven appear on the 1997 CD
"Collection" (also known as "A Collection" and "The Collection",
ACH80017 on the Archive Recordings label). Those seven are:

Moonchild River Song
Be True to You
Ol' 55
Time Run Like a Freight Train
Liza, Light the Candle
Woman, She Was Gentle
Love Is Just a Game

The three missing songs are:

Wild Crow Blues
Can't Get You Out of My Life
Blues Keep Fallin' Like the Rain

The All-Music Guide page for the "Collection" CD is:

http://www.allmusic.com/cg/amg.dll?p=amg&uid=CASS70305151540&sql=A4kq4g4gmtv3z

The "Collection" CD has been back-ordered at CD Universe since January
2001.

http://www.cduniverse.com/productinfo.asp?PID=1462709&frm=sh_google

There were two listings for it on the GEMM website. Duffelbag.com
offers a new copy for $13.49, but they don't have it in stock. They
think they can get it in a week.

http://db4.gemm.com/ddc/search.pl?sid=361901271&key=75691&a_refno=GML569167894

Krohn's Boulevard Records has a near mint used copy in stock, for
which they want $17.25.

http://db4.gemm.com/ddc/search.pl?sid=361901271&key=75691&a_refno=GML573243511

I checked various Internet used CD dealers, eBay, and half.com, and
didn't find it anywhere else. If seven songs on CD is close enough
for you, it looks like one of the GEMM dealers is your best bet.

Search Strategy

I checked the All-Music Guide first, because I already knew it as a
good source of discographical information.

Then I searched Google for

"Eric Andersen" "Be True to you"

This led me to

http://www.orangeshirt.org:8080/~aschmid/eric/albums/beTrueToYou.html

This is a page about the album on Mena Schmid's web site. From it, I
learned about the inclusion of the songs on the "Collection" CD. This
page also noted which songs from "Be True to You" were on
"Collection." I confirmed this on the CD Universe page for
"Collection" and the All-Music Guide pages for both albums.

I already knew about GEMM as a big web site representing many dealers
in recorded music.

Other used CD web sites from my bookmarks that didn't produce anything
useful:

http://www.djangomusic.com/home.asp

http://www.musicstack.com/

http://www.spun.com/

http://www.secondspin.com/index.cfm

I also searched by the catalog number:

andersen 80017 OR ACH80017

but this mostly found references to zip code 80017, and nothing new
about the "Collection" CD.

I tried to find a web site for Archive Recordings to see if the CD was
in print or available from them, but only found other uses of the
phrase "Archive Recordings."

I hope this information is helpful. If anything is unclear or you
need more information, please ask for a clarification.
