I am looking for a list of very talented but fairly low cost shockwave/flash designers for my not-for-profit organization, particularly ones that would consider creating a piece of work in exchange for something other than money. However, that isn't a requirement. They should also be good at graphic design. | |

Your best bet would be to head over to Elance at http://www.elance.com. You can put in a request for bid and the designers will bid on your project and they have a portfolio that you can use to view their work. -THV |

That's not exactly what I'm looking for. It seems like you have to pay to even post a bid request on that site. And what I'm looking for isn't that spectacular or massive, so it's not a huge project that would require me to use a third party service like that. |

ryan_dm, Just a thought that you may want to consider: Sure, Flash presentations can be really amazing and impressive. But if you are thinking about creating a Flash entry portal for your site, I urge you to reconsider. Most really good, knowledgeable Website Design Professionals will recommend against using them, and here's why: More than half of the people who access the Web are still on 56k Dial-Up Modem. Using a Flash presentation on your main entry page eats tons of bandwidth, and with that kind of connection, can take forever to load. Most of the time, if I encounter a site with something like that, I just leave and never come back. A Flash presentation that sits there and grinds, keeping me from getting the information that I'm seeking, indicates to me that the site owner has very little respect or consideration for me or my precious time. Furthermore, depending on how it's done, a Flash presentation *can* keep you from being indexed by Google! Since 90% of web traffic referred from Search Engines comes from Google, that sort of problem could be crippling for an online "business". If you still want to create a Flash presentation for your site, I encourage you to make a link to it on your front page that a Visitor can click if they actually want to see it. Otherwise, you might want to consider using a good web designer with graphic design credentials, who can make your site user-friendly and easy to navigate, as well as pleasing to the eye. Best Wishes, aceresearcher |
