Sometime during WWII my father in-law Howard K. Teeter became ill
while serving the the army. He was flown to McKinney, Texas to recover
at the Ashburn General Hospital. After several months he was
discharged from the hospital and moved to a house to recover which he
rented
with his wife Vera. This was sometime in 1945 or 1946. My wife (his
daughter) and I moved to McKinney and we would like to trace back
where he moved to and lived etc. We found the original Ashburn General
Hospital location which was changed to the Veterans Admin. Hospital
and now a Job Core facility. We are searching for any records of
Howard Teeter's stay at Ashburn, when was he discharged and where did
he moved to with his wife in McKinney after being discharged.

individuals. If I might inquire, what is your ultimate goal here? Are
you trying to determine if he is still living today? If so, we might
be able to provide a record of his death to you (if he has since died)
if that is what you are trying to determine.

The purpose of our inquiry...since we now live in Mckinney, my wife
and her sister are interested to see the house where their parents
lived (if it is still standing) and the area etc. We could probably
assume from there where they shopped, went to church etc. Just maybe
someone might remember them. I realize they would be very old by now
but you never know.

I can only confirm this with their dates of birth, but I am relatively
certain that both Howard Teeter and his wife have since passed away.
As an answer, I can provide you with information about the town where
they were last living if you like. I did not find where they were
living while in McKinney, but by searching a directory I discovered
that there are quite a few people in a wide vicinity of where they
were last living that share their last name. Perhaps you could contact
some of them and learn more about their early lives. Let me know if
you'll accept this data as an answer.

In the meantime, I have searched the online court and property records
and found no mention of either Howard or his wife in McKinney Texas.

It is most unlikely that the hospital records would be accessible or
available after so much time has passed.

Visit the website www.rootsweb.com, click on the MESSAGE BOARDS link,
then look at the "FIND A MESSAGE BOARD" box and enter the phrase
"COLLIN COUNTY" (where McKinney, TX is located), and a page of results
will come up in blue lettering.  Look at item #2,
BOARDS--LOCALITIES--US--etc.--COLLIN COUNTY, TEXAS and click on that
blue lettering and then post your query there.  A local genealogist
can check other sources to get the address information you seek.

Contact the local library or look in the yellow pages to try to find
the local or county genealogical association.  They might have access
to criss-cross city directories that would show what his address was
during the years you are interested in.  You may also want to check at
the county courthouse to see if there are any legal documents (land
records or property tax records or court proceedings) that might shed
some light.

We know that both Howard and his wife have passed away. We also know
all of their family members in Indiana and other parts of the US. The
only family member who may have known where they lived in McKinney is
also dead.
I need to know if discharge papers from the hospital might show where
he moved to here in McKinney. Or is there a US Postal address book
that might have a mailing address for a Howard K. Teeter and how would
one find this?
