Question ID: 217728
I would like to obtain a list of career coachs in the Northern
Virginia area. Examples, of cities in Northern Virginia are
Alexandria, Herndon, Reston, Fairfax, Arlington, and Falls Church.
Desired information includes name, phone number, address, email
address, and web pages, if any. In addition, information on education
and earned certifications in career coaching/counselling is desired.

I am only interested in obtaining this information for career coaches
who meet individually with clients, and at least some of the coaching
meetings are in person. I am not interested in coaches who only
provide services to groups of employees in an organization or who
provides all of their servies over the phone or via email. I am
particularly interested in obtaining information about who career
coaches who have experience in providing assistance in the area of
secon careers for Federal employees who retire from the government in
their mid-50's.

One source of information that I have already located is
www.wbcnova.org/coaches2.html. This is the type of information I am
seeking. However, this link appears to be oriented toward women's
careers and I would like to obtain information that is not gender
specific. Another link that I have located is www.yourowncoach/com.
This is exactly the type of information I am looking for. The advice
that is frequently given is that if one is going to obtain services
from a career coach, one should first interview at least three
potential career coaches. Conseqently, I would be satisfied if the
fulfillment of this request could provide at least two other web pages
like www.yourowncoach.com.

Hello, vabooks-ga!

I have found some potential career coaches for you in Northern
Virginia. Many of these companies also offer resume-writing services.
Don't be put off by that aspect. The two services often go together.

If you have any interest in meeting with a Life Coach, which goes a
bit beyond just Career Counseling, here is another reference:

What is coaching?
http://www.billpullen.com/coaching.html

Coaching creates a powerful alliance between the coach and client. The
relationship is designed to enhance and forward the lifelong process
of human learning, effectiveness and fulfillment.

Coaching is:
About taking control of your life
 Goal directed and action oriented
About deepening your learning about yourself
Allowing yourself to dream big then believing that you can make it
happen
Cleaning up the "clutter" and "baggage" in your life so you can focus
on moving forward
Having the courage to face your fears and step out of your comfort
zone
Taking a hard, honest look at what is and isn't working in your life
Rebuilding a failing relationship, ending a bad relationship, finding
the job you love, growing your business, getting out of a slump,
losing weight, completing the project, finding yourself and so much
more.

Coaching is not:
 Therapy
 Counseling
 Consulting

Personal Information:
http://www.billpullen.com/about.html

"I have spent my entire professional career motivating people during
times of adversity and/or change. As a physical therapist specializing
in brain injury, I learned to motivate people so they could overcome
injuries and weakness and find their strength. I entered the managed
care industry in 1994 where my challenge was to motivate employees at
a time of intense public scrutiny, merger and change."

"In 2001, fueled by my passion to live life to the fullest and find my
true self, I decided to pursue a career of helping people transform
their lives. I received my coaching training and certification through
The Coaches Training Institute and leadership training through the
Co-Active Space Leadership program. I have a private coaching practice
dealing with a wide array of clients, as well as a consulting practice
specializing in corporate coaching. I pride myself in bringing all of
myself to each session with my clients and believing in them even when
they don't believe in themselves."

"The message I want to share with the world is believe in and trust
yourself. You know what is right for you. Armed with this knowledge,
you can do anything."

Personal Testimonies:
http://www.billpullen.com/clients.html

I have both corporate and personal coaching clients. Together we work
on a variety of issues some of which include; leadership development,
building and growing a business, relationships, health, fulfillment
and life balance.

This is what some of my clients say about the work we have done
together:

"Some where in the past ten years I had taken myself out of the game
of life, I was convinced that front row seats weren't that bad.
However, Bill coached me on how to get back in the game and understand
that it's not about winning or losing (besides, how do you keep
score?) but much of the joy in life is merely participating fully in
the game! His coaching was the catalyst for an adventure in
self-discovery and for which I will be forever grateful."

-- David Hatfield

"What I've enjoyed most about working with Bill is his personal touch
-- his ability to tailor the work specifically to the individual needs
of his client. From the start, our relationship has been one of
"co-creation", a partnership, rather than the traditional
therapist/client model. This experience has been life-changing as
we've delved into diverse issues of spirituality and creativity, of
finance and wealth, of career development and bringing authenticity to
all parts of my life.

-- Phillip Woods

" I look at the past year that I have spent working with Bill as a
year of major transformation. Not only have I started down the road to
a more physically healthy me, but I have achieved some balance to make
room for a new relationship too!"

-- Richard Green

"The coaching experience not only helps me to stay more focused and
productive in my work life, it reinforces positive behaviors to
improve my spirit and passion for living. This renewed way of thinking
becomes contagious ultimately creating a better community."

-- Jon A. Kaplan
   Executive Director, Free State Justice
