Hi wallex, thanks for an interesting question that lets me draw upon personal experience: I was in London last summer and spent much aggravating time looking for a job, so best of luck to you! I'm assuming you have the proper permits to legally work in England; if not, BUNAC offers work permits for young people from many countries to the U. K.: URL: http://www.bunac.org Employment agencies often have multitudes of job listings in a wide variety of categories. Particularly fruitful was searching Reed.co.uk, a top employment agency with a searchable database of jobs: URL: http://www.reed.co.uk Searching for the keyword "cleaning" with location set to "London" returns many interesting jobs including: Office cleaner £7.50 per hour in Knightsbridge: URL: http://www.reed.co.uk/cgi-bin/JobDetails.asp?JobID=2339696&BackURL=search%5Fresults%2Easp%3FSearch%3DYES%26Search%5FID%3D%26JobSector%3D%26County%3D38%26SalRange%3D%253A%26SearchType%3DSimple%26JobType%3D%26BranchRef%3D%26JobID%3D%26Order%5FBy%3D%26Occupation%3Dcleaning%26Page%3D3 Mobile cleaner in North London, up to £12000 per annum: URL: http://www.reed.co.uk/cgi-bin/JobDetails.asp?JobID=2330049&BackURL=search%5Fresults%2Easp%3FSearch%3DYES%26Search%5FID%3D%26JobSector%3D%26County%3D38%26SalRange%3D%253A%26SearchType%3DSimple%26JobType%3D%26BranchRef%3D%26JobID%3D%26Order%5FBy%3D%26Occupation%3Dcleaning%26Page%3D4 Cleaner in Central London, salary negotiable: http://www.reed.co.uk/cgi-bin/JobDetails.asp?JobID=2108650&BackURL=search%5Fresults%2Easp%3FSearch%3DYES%26Search%5FID%3D%26JobSector%3D%26County%3D38%26SalRange%3D%253A%26SearchType%3DSimple%26JobType%3D%26BranchRef%3D%26JobID%3D%26Order%5FBy%3D%26Occupation%3Dcleaning%26Page%3D2 Monster lists 39 results upon a keyword search for "cleaning" in London: URL: http://jobsearch.monster.co.uk/jobsearch.asp?brd=1&cy=UK&brd=1&z=norespage&lid=802&jt=2&jt=1&jt=4&jt=3&q=cleaning&sort=rv&vw=d Searching Greater London with the keyword "cleaning" leads to 30 results at Hcareers: URL: http://www.hcareers.co.uk/seeker/search/?jobDetectiveId=&industryCodes=&positionCodes=&management=&localAreaCodes=L00003&booleanKeyWordSearch=cleaning&form.commit.x=44&form.commit.y=9 Hcareers has 27 jobs listed under housekeeping: URL: http://www.hcareers.co.uk/seeker/search/?jobDetectiveId=&industryCodes=&positionCodes=15&management=&localAreaCodes=L00003&booleanKeyWordSearch=&form.commit.x=28&form.commit.y=11 A request for cleaning and laundry service for £4.50 per hour was posted just 6 days ago at Letstemp: URL: http://www.letstemp.co.uk/jobid-56.html MaydayExec (free registration required) has a cleaning/domestic category (under maintainence) and a cleaning services category (under healthcare): URL: http://www.maydayexec.co.uk/JobSeekers/ Other U.K. employment agencies can be found via Google: URL: http://directory.google.com/Top/Regional/Europe/United_Kingdom/Business_and_Economy/Employment/Agencies/ A directory of job search services for the United Kingdom is also available on Google: URL: http://directory.google.com/Top/Regional/Europe/United_Kingdom/Business_and_Economy/Employment/Job_Search/ London papers, in particular The Evening Standard, can be fruitful sources of job listings. For example, I found the following by searching the Standard's job listings for keyword "cleaner": "Train Cleaners, Day or Night Shifts, £5.75 - £6.90 (TEMP to PERM)" URL: http://jobs.thisislondon.co.uk/finn/job/object?id=3131910&sid=032098110271694&pos=0&rub=18 You may want to review a few interview tips to make sure you land your job of choice: URL: http://www.upenn.edu/careerservices/asc/intervasc.html I hope you find this information useful, and feel free to request clarification. If you do require clarification, please allow me to provide it before you rate this answer. Best of luck in your job search, not_you-ga Search Strategy (on Google): "employment agencies london" "employment agencies u.k." "job listings london" "job search u.k." "interviewing guidelines" |
