Devnet --

Associations are so different, ranging from technology groups such as
the Worldwide Web Consortium to issues groups such as the National
Rifle Association, that this is an extremely difficult task. As you
seeking common issues -- or a range of issues that different types may
incur? Are you seeking U.S.-based groups specifically?

I believe that many organisations have a traditional business model
small h/o staff and many members. In the old days they just sent out a
magazine and memebrs renewed. This is now longer the case and that is
under challenge in the comming years. Many medium and smaller
associations are strugling with membership retention and increasing
magazine, mailing and other costs. I would like information to prove
this an ideally how automation / technology helped the association
with new revenue models, increased membship and or reduced costs.

Devnet --

You may want to note the online resource for a publication that tracks
the membership association business. Articles available for free
online aren't the most-recent but you'll find some interesting
resources:
Association Trends Online
http://www.associationtrends.com/

In particular, you may find that this article has some insights:

Try this Google searchs strategy and I think that you'll find some
other valuable references:
