Where can I find the original recipe perfume formula for the perfume "Celui de Jean Desses" now discontinued? The perfume was French and my mother bought it in the 1960s and 70s. None of the customised perfume houses can help me. I believe that these formulas are included in journals but I don't know where I can find them or if I am allowed to look at them. (Original Recipe Perfume Formula Journals). Thankyou. If you could find out who originally manufactured the perfume for Jean Desses and if they still exist, they might know. | |

Your in luck! Well, Good news is, I think they still make it, still waiting on a call back from a friend from France for you. Apparently the company has also filed some legal papers, which also will help tracking down this elusive perfume. This site appears to be a company that sells the perfume : http://www.ventesuroffres.com/vente42/page4219.html Please note however that it is in entirely the french language. http://www.jecollectionne.com at one time this was also the companies website, however it appears to have been taken over by one of those fly by night search engines! Vermont Country Store also offers a service to find missing products and ultimately feature them in their catalog http://www.vermontcountrystore.com I'll keep looking if this doesn't work Jase |

My understanding is that Ventres sur Offres does not sell this perfume. In case you don't know French, take a look at the fine print at the bottom of that page, as translated by Google: ://www.google.com/translate?u=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.ventesuroffres.com%2Fvente42%2Fpage4219.html&langpair=fr%7Cen&hl=en&ie=Unknown&oe=ASCII |

Also, the translation indicates that jecollectione.com is a web site that is unrelated to this perfume. |

The first site given by jasedca shows miniature sizes, and states that these are no longer available for purchase. The prices are the top ones that were obtained for these collectibles. The second site is not a search engine, but a bulletin board where people can post announcements if they wish to buy or sell collectibles of various sorts. It includes a section for perfumes and perfume bottles. It appears the company is no longer in existence: "A petition to cancel the registrations identified below having been filed, and the notice of such proceeding sent to registrants at their last known address having been returned by the Postal Service as undeliverable, notice is hereby given that unless the registrants listed herein, their assigns or legal representatives, shall enter an appearance within thirty days of this publication, the cancellation will proceed as in the case of default. Les Parfums Jean Desses, S.A., Paris, France, Reg. No. 756,524 for the mark CELUI DE JEAN DESSES, Canc. No. 28,802." http://www.micropat.com/og/ogn991221/patserv.html In a list of perfume classifications at http://olfac.univ-lyon1.fr/documentation/olfaction/classification_des_parfums/class_nom-1998.htm Celui perfume is classified as chypre + cuir (leather) together with some other perfumes listed on the site. "Chypre fragrances contain both bergamot (a small fruit with a lemon/lime odor) and oakmoss. The name Chypre comes from the fragrance Chypre by Coty, which was introduced in 1917. These scents are reminiscent of earthy, woody notes. The five subdivisions for women are fruity, animalic, woody, fresh, and green. The four subdivisions for men are woody, leathery, fresh, and citrus." http://www.houseofversailles.com/families.ihtml#The%20Chypre%20Family |

Try http://www.auntjudysattic.com They specialize in rae and discontinued perfumes and related items. If they don't have it they have a messageboard that you can place a request for a fragrance. I think it is worth checking out. |
