Hello questionguy! The answer to the question you're asking can be found at the following page. Just click the link that says "power usage chart". PCWorld.Com Answer Line http://www.pcworld.com/resource/article.asp?aid=9058&pg=4 You will learn here that a PC that is always on costs between $48 and $105 per year, while an always on 17-inch monitor costs $168. The PC costs vary so much because system configuration greatly influences how much power it uses. As you can see from the following page, SCSI drives have a high energy consumptions; and so do CPU fans used to overclock systems without burning them. Target PC: How muchs does that box use anyway? http://www.targetpc.com/hardware/power_supplies/measure/index3.shtml Also, bear in mind that costs can also be different depending on which area you live on, as different electric companies charge different rates. Anyway, the 12 cent per kWH figure mentioned in the chart above seems to be the average. The search terms I used were: power usage watts PC usage Best regards, elmarto |
