6-17-2003 Please mention what state you live in, as state laws vary in trust matters. SINCERELY, 4keith |

6-18-2003 What I intended to ask was what state did the decedent die in and what state do you think the trust was written in, since it is THAT state's law that apply. 4keith |

4keith, Thanks for the response. The answer to both questions are the same. The state is Illinois. brigitte |

6-18-2003 Most states allow someone who thinks they are a beneficiary to send a certified letter to the executor to ask for a copy of the will. You would need to check with a local probate attorney to find out whether Illinois law allows this, since it was very difficult to decipher the legalese of Illinois law code. 4keith |

In my previous response I used the phrase "copy of the will" incorrectly. I meant to say "copy of the trust and an accounting statement for the trust". My sincerest apologies. And a probate attorney might be able to answer your question for sure, but a TRUST attorney most definitely would be able to answer it. 4keith |

6-21-2003 I assumed that you knew who the trustee was. If you don't, then you can ask the executor of the estate if he/she knows or look at the probate file at the county courthouse to see if it mentions who the trustee might be or the name of the trust. 4keith |
