The Oration Speaker of the dedication of the new soldiers' cemetery at
Gettysburg, who spoke before Lincoln, was Edward Everett. Everett's
"Gettysburg Oration" contained over 14,000 words and was two hours
long. Here is its full text, with notes added by Everett himself for
