I'm trying to get the band/song title for a video that's been imbeded
in the back of my skull for weeks now. Here's everything I've been
able to recall about it.

I recall seeing the video on MTV while in high school, most likely
around 1997. Around the same time, Death In Vegas and Jemiriqoui, were
making heavy rotation on MTV as well.

The video was filmed in black and white, with some sligh projector
damage (noise, scratch marks, ect). The setting of the video appeared
to be ~30's, because the two women in it were wearing flappers (short,
fringy skirt, popular during the 30's). The plot consists of them
racing though a town with baby buggies. Obviously, the filming style,
acting, ect are appropriate to the settings.

Anway, I'd like to know what this video is before I flip out, so
thanks!

Forgot to mention the songs' style. It's actually quite unique and
difficult to describe, but if I had to classify it, I'd say it'd be
pop/electronica and I'm almost certain it was a british import.
Additionally, I do not recall ever hearing/seeing anything else by
this band since that one video.

I'll continue adding anything I can remember as they come to me.

Do you remember any lyrics? Was a man or a woman singing? Perhaps
such details will help us to find the song, and thereby the video.

Hello Toxygene,
I love 'name the song/artist/video' questions; they're my
favourite sort! In this case I am very confident I remember the track
because of your description of the video. The song (and video) are
both very odd. I believe this is "Your Woman" by White Town. The
tricky part is how to prove it!

Well, here are some of the lyrics to the track I have in mind:

Just tell me what you've got to say to me,
I've been waiting for so long to hear the truth,
It comes as no surprise at all you see,
So cut the crap and tell me that we're through.
Now I know your heart, I know your mind,
You don't even know you're being unkind,
So much for all your highbrow Marxist ways,
Just use me up and then you walk away,

Boy you can't play me that way.
Well I guess what you say is true,
I could never be the right kind of girl for you,
I could never be your woman

I've put a small snippet of it here:
http://www.projectorgames.com/yourwoman.ogg to aid identification.

White Town is in fact one person (Jyoti Mishra), a guy from England
who wrote and recorded the track in his bedroom on an 8-track tape
deck using his Atari ST computer in 1997. It was quite a hit!

You can find an interview with him here:

Well, I hope this is the track you're referring to - I've staked
my reputation on it by posting it as an answer :) Thank you for the
question; I look forward to your response.
