Hi. I am in the market for a new fax machine.
If I told you what I have you would wonder
if they even made fax machines then!

Now, I do not send or receive that many faxes in
a weeks time.
what I am interested in is a fax machine that:
1--- Sends and receives really good copies.
2--- Is pretty fast at sending, though it does not need to be super fast.
3--- Tell me a little about overall price difference is I go with a
plain paper fax or one that uses fax paper.
4---- I want a machine that will work well for me for 5-10 years.
5---- I do NOT need all the bells and whistles. Send fax, receive fax --- period.

I already know of the great service of "froogle", so if you give me 2 or 3
good names and product numbers, I can shop more intelligently.

God bless you to know and do His will!

Hi pendleton,

Good day and thanks for your question.

At the outset, I use the Hewlett-Packard 1020 Plain Paper Fax, and it
is extremely good. I bought it for around $200.

So what is the price difference 1-- for machines
2--- plain paper (cost of paper and cartridge, toner) versus fax paper.?

Hi again,

The Brother IntelliFax 770 (approx. $120) is the price leader in the
plain-paper thermal category. The Panasonic KX-FP101 (approx. $140) is
the Brother IntelliFax 770's closest price competitor.

In the plain paper category, Brother IntelliFax 1270 (approx. $150)
and the Panasonic KX-FP 121 (approx. $190) are the price leaders.

As far as the machine is concerned, the price difference ranges from
$30 to $200 (for more expensive and advances fax machines)

Coming to the paper, thermal paper costs 1.5 to 2 times that of plain
paper. Furthermore, thermal paper is difficult to write on, and the
text fades after some time.

It is strongly recommended to use a plain paper fax machine.

Cheers,
Aditya.

I highly recommend Epinions as a good place to find a suitable fax
machine. The site offers reviews from actual users, technical details,
and price comparisons. I hardly ever buy anything anymore without
checking Epinions first.
