I'm looking for a researcher who 1.can extract specific information
from guidestar.com
2.who can search and match up names with addresses on the Internet.
This is a rather large project which needs to be completed by 9/1/03

Greetings Woodeye:

As a grant writer, I am familiar with Guidestar and would like to know
more about the criteria you seek. I also have access to the
Foundation software through my local public library and am able to
search there if need be. Please clarify if you are interested in more
dialogue on this matter.

Best regards,
journalist-ga

Hello journalist-ga,

Thanks for your interest. We are building a mailing list of trustees
and directors of art museums in America. We would send a list of the
required museums. We would then need a researcher to look up the
addresses of the individuals on the list. We would need home
addresses. We estimate the 1/2 to 2/3 can be matched up eg:
John Q. Jones from the Morris Museum in Augusta. The majority of the
subjects will be found in the near vicinity or elsewhere on the state.
If we don't come up with John Q. Jones exactly, we don't have a match.
My best guess is we're probably covering 3-400 museums with 20 to 40
names from each. The guidestar approach was given to me by a Google
Answer researcher. Would you set your fees by the hour or by the job?I
look forward to your response

Thanks for your response, Woodeye. Your request for "home addresses"
presents a problem as it would be considered private information and
not approved for posting in this forum. Also, personal contact from
Researcher to customer outside this forum is not permitted. If I may
assist you with any additional projects, please let me know. I could
compile the list you seek of public addresses and names but I'm not
permitted to gather and post private information here.

journalist-ga

Hello journalist-ga,

I will accept your offer to complile the names discussed. But, I don't
understand why the addresses, which we compile from Switchboard, are
considered private information. It seems to me that they are in the
public domain. Regards, Woodeye

Hi Woodeye:

I understand your thoughts regarding public domain because anyone may
usually easily search Yahoo! or other sites with White Pages and
discover them. However, personal addresses may not be reproduced
here, only business addresses are acceptable (although, if a trustee
has his or her own home page where a home address contact was given, I
could post that.) I am just unable to look up addresses in phone
directories as a detective might do because those are many times
reproduced in online directories without an individual's knowledge or
consent.

As you acknowledged, this is a huge project. Will you be altering the
amount of this question to reflect what you are prepared to offer for
the work or will you be posting a new query requesting this
information? You might also consider breaking the question into
multiple queries such as "museums by regions" so that a few
Researchers may work towards you receiving the information with more
speed.

I await your decision on how you will proceed.

Best regards,
journalist-ga

Hi journalist,
I appreciate your thoroughness and professionalism.
First, I don't qualify as a museum and the organization isn't
comprehensive enough to fill my requirements... Good approach though!
Second, I'm don't really know how to price this question. I would
appreciate some advice on this. I'm very willing to pay a fair price
that will satisfy researchers. I can bring in an intern to do the
job, but I'd rather work with you and your colleagues. I don't really
know how to break it down by region as they won't be equal. Can we
break it down by the number of museums researched?
Thanks, Woodeye

Hi Woodeye:

You may pose the question in any manner you choose. You seem to have
an idea of the scope of the searches and how much information might be
gleaned from different areas of the country. An example might be "All
museum trustees in California" with a fee reflecting your value of the
return. I do enjoy working with colleagues for a single customer
because it benefits the customer in receiving their answers more
quickly as well as allowing many Researchers to share in the fees.

Should you want to request Researchers by name, you may review any
Researcher's answers by clicking on the live links of their names.
Also, some Researchers are talented at compiling lists in certain
fields because of familiarity with the topic. You may also wish to
search Google Answers with key phrases such as or "compile a list" or
"grant research" or "art research" to see the names of Researchers
that have answered questions on topics similar to yours.

And thank you very much for preferring the researchers here at Google
Answers.
:) Most of us work diligently to ensure customer satisfaction and we
appreciate all opportunities presented to us.
