I am looking for a specific episode.  The TV min-series was a sci-fi
film describing a long journey in search of Earth's replacement.  The
journey was made only by Kids, and was futureistic.

I think the movie you're looking for is called Earth Star Voyager. It
showed on Wonderful World of Disney in the late 1980's. Hope this
helps!
