Biotin

It is a known fact that biotin plays a large role in promoting healthy
hair growth and nails. As such, biotin is commonly found in agents
touted to enhance hair (and nail) growth. Biotin appears to work by
improving the break down of scalp oils. An overabundance of scalp oils
may cause hair follicles to clog and inhibit hair growth. Biotin
serves as the "Dawn dish soap" to cut away the grease, allowing hair
to grow from its follicle once again. Biotin is also important in the
synthesis of fatty acids and helps to incorporate amino acids into
keratin (hair and nail protein).
