Dear jcoll-ga;

Thank you for allowing me an opportunity to answer your interesting
question.

The “per mile reimbursement rates” you refer to are called “mileage
per diem rates”. The trend most commonly follows that which is
annually established as the minimum rate by the Federal government,
but of course a more generous and thoughtful business might adjust
these rates accordingly to reflect the dynamics of the changing
economy.

Currently, (effective January 1, 2003), the per diem rate for mileage
and use of one’s personal vehicle is .36 cents per mile.

The 2003 per diem rate for moving expenses if you use your privately
own vehicle to make a company mandated move is .12 cents per mile.

If you are interested in per diem rates for lodging, meals and
incidentals (M&IE) these tend to be the rates that most often vary
from state to state or region to region:

I'm sorry if the values I represented were misleading. My intention
was to to reflect the values as "thirty-six US cents" rather than ".36
cents" and "twelve US cents" as opposed to ".12 cents".

I hope this clears it up a bit.
