Good morning!

Obviously, the first thing you need is the phone number. If you don't
have Caller ID, and would like to know who it was that just called and
hung up on you, you can (in most areas) activate Automatic Callback by
dialing *69. The service will tell you what number the last incoming
call came from, and will offer to connect you to that number.

If you already have the number, you *may* be able to track down who it
belongs to. Caveat: Not every number is traceable in this fashion.
If the owner of the number you're researching has chosen not to be
listed in the phone book, you're unlikely to find out who it is
without paid assistance.

There are a number of reverse lookup directories available to help:

Reverse Phone Directory
http://www.reversephonedirectory.com/

SearchBug Reverse Directories
http://www.searchbug.com/peoplefinder/peoplebyphone1.aspx

Freeality
http://www.freeality.com/finde.htm

You might also try entering the full phone number into Google -
sometimes, the number will be listed in the Google Phone Book, and
will provide the name and address that goes along with the number.

Good luck!
