I lost my dog and I was hoping to find a bloodhound owner who might
help me track her. She's very old and can't be very far. Chances are
she's hiding not far from our house in Downtown Los Angeles.

The organization Los Angeles Search Dogs does not, unfortunately, use
its dogs to find missing pets.

Another major organization, Missing Pet Partnership, provides a
resource for lost dog searches primarily in Northern California.

I have found an organization located in Oregon that charges for its
services. I'm not sure how fast they could arrange to assist someone
in Los Angeles.

Because time is important to you, I hope that other Researchers will
provide ideas for you, and perhaps even an answer. In any event,
would a list of additional resources besides tracking dogs be
sufficient as an answer?

This may sound a little silly, but if your dog has a favorite squeak
toy, you might try walking around the neighborhood squeaking it
loudly. When my dog Loxie bolted through the door and disappeared, my
husband and I each took a squeak toy, and we circled the block,
squeaking all the way, until Loxie came bounding out of someone's
backyard.

People will look at you funny if you are walking down the street
squeaking a doggie toy, but a few funny looks are worth it if this
helps you to find your pet.

Thanks for the squeaky toy suggetion. We've already tried that. Our
dog is 12 years old and somewhat deaf. So yelling out her name or
squeaky toys don't work much. Since I wrote to google this morning,
our dog has been spotted in the neighborhood and we have renewed faith
that she will be returned soon. I appreciate your comments.

Have you tried offering a reward? If there are teenagers in your area,
they might be willing to conduct a search in return for some cash if
they find your dog.
