I am looking for information about an artist, A. Vander Velde. I have a signed oil painting that I purchased a few years ago in London. I believe the artist is either Flemish or Dutch. |

are you sure about the date&spelling of the name? there is an A(adriaan)van de velde in the 17th century (dutch) there is an H (Henri) van der velde (impressionism - late 19th century) - flemish (that sirname can be spelled (and has been spelled in about 5 different ways throughout since the middle ages) could you clarify the style of the painting maybe that'll help Greetz D |

I doublechecked the spelling. It is accurate. The date (1895) and signature are very clear. It is a picture of a Victorian era sitting by a fire in a kitchen with her dog. It is either a woman who lives on the farm or works in a kitchen for a wealthy family. She clearly is not a rich person. |
