I am looking for an online source or catalog source of Cotton-Lycra
woven fabric (two-way stretch; Not 4-way stretch) in different print
designs. (Not solid colors.) Or
Cotton-Spandex. Must be COTTON-lycra and NOT nylon-lycra.

jude1-ga,

I have searched quite extensively for the fabric you are seeking and
have found nothing that is strictly 2-way stretch in floral prints
that does not contain some nylon. I have found floral prints in cotton
lycra (without nylon) that is 4-way stretch.

Because of my confusion, I have e-mailed a particular online fabric
source. The correspondence is as follows:

Q. "I am looking for a source of cotton lycra with 2-way stretch only,
in floral prints. Not with any nylon included. I cannot find any on
your site. Do you know of any other online sources?"

A. "Did you check the cotton lycra category....under the main Lycra
tab? We have several prints in stock.

Q. "Yes, everything I saw for floral prints was 4-way stretch. I need
2-way stretch in cotton lycra only (no nylon). Any thoughts would be
appreciated."

A. "Lycra is added to the cotton to make it have 4Way
stretch...without it it's a normal Knit fabric that has 2 way stretch.
Cotton lycra knits sometimes have polyester , but I've never seen
nylon added. I'm sorry I can't help you, I've never heard of what
you're searching for.

Some descriptions of the floral cotton lycras I have found follow:

"Cotton Lycra Knit with 4 way stretch has has a sweet random floral
print. Perfect weight for a T shirt or leggings"

"Cotton Lycra 4 way stretch knit has all over floral print of pink and
lavender flowers on black background. Cute print for a leotard or
leggings."

"Cotton Lycra knit with 4 way stretch in a whimsical daisy print is
perfect for a summer T shirt. 60" width"

The only 2-way stretch I have found contains nylon.

Any insights?

Dear umiat,
As far as nylon goes, I tried a nylon/lycra blend and it stretched out
of shape. I am using it to carry like 30 pounds. As far as the email
reply you received regarding "lycra is added to the cotton to make it
have 4Way
stretch...without it it's a normal Knit fabric that has 2 way
stretch," this is important as I am not looking for a knit, but
actually a woven. :) It doesn't have to be floral, btw, toiles, other
prints are acceptable. I am actually looking for a variety. (Not just
one or two, but more like ten nice designs in my opinion.) If this
helps, I *did* find some of the type of fabric I'm looking for at
Joann's Fabrics and Crafts store. It is labeled a "stretch twill" and
it is cotton/lycra 2-way stretch. There are about 5 different prints;
the problem is that they are all ugly! LOL. The only info on the bolt
of fabric was "made in [China, Korea, I actually forget where! Sorry.]
Does this help at all? Thanks, Jude

Try www.leotards.ca

They have cotton/spandex (in solids only, it seems) and a huge
selection of prints too.
