Hello Nial-ga,
I have not been able to locate Spain specific information for the
cultivation of Ginseng.
However, there is a lot of information available for the cultivation
of Ginseng in the United States and Canada.
This information includes site selection, soil acidity, drainage,
harvestiing and marketing of Ginseng.
I have located budgets for half acre ginseng plantations as well.
I can provide the links to free publications, handbooks and guidebooks
regarding Ginseng farming.
In addition there is an excellent article about a Ginseng Operation
that includes photos that may be of your interest.
Would this be an adequate answer to your question?
Thanks

Hello Ian,
Is it going to be possible to grow in Spain?
It depends on the climate. Ginseng is a shade loving plant and
requires 70% shade from about two p.m. on. Ginseng likes cool
afternoons and good drainage. Ginseng needs the early morning sun.
Since I dont know where you are located in Spain I cant say if youd
be successful in planting Ginseng.
Take a look at this map of North America.
http://www.smallfarmer.com/zonemap.jpg
The above map is displayed to help you make a determination of your
region and whether or not you are in a location suitable for ginseng
cultivation.
Zone 3 through 6 are the zones best suited for ginseng cultivation.
Ginseng can successfully be grown in zones 2,7,8 and 9 with a little
more work and planting. This map is a general rule of thumb, due to
topography some areas have climate properties like zones to the north
or south. As you can see, ginseng can be cultivated in a large part of
the United States and Canada.
If the climate of your specific location in Spain is similar to the
above it would be possible to cultivate.
Would the information allow me or instruct me how to, grow / harvest /
find buyers.
The information I located provides information on growing and
harvesting Ginseng.
Finding Buyers:
Hong Kong is by far the largest destination for ginseng exports. Would
you be interested in finding buyers in Spain or would you be exporting
your product.
You will be able to harvest the root in 3 to 8 years after planting so
it really depends on how the ginseng market is that time in order to
find buyers.
Thanks
