Thomas Edison is frequently quoted as saying, "The doctor of the future will give no medicine, but will interest his patient in the care of the human frame, in diet, and in the cause and prevention of disease." I have searched for a citation for this quote, but cannot find one. I would like to read the surrounding text so that I can understand the context in which the quotation occurred. David |

Dozens of online citations of this quote say "Attributed to Thomas Edison," but I have found no source for the attribution. Apocryphal quotes are often attributed to well-known people (Mark Twain and Winston Churchill come to mind). I sincerely doubt that the context for the quote is findable; it is quite possible that Edison never said or wrote this, but that someone thought the quotation would carry more weight with a famous name attached to it. |

I was afraid this might be the case. It is hard to believe that so many folks (example: chiropractors) would publish this alleged quotation in order to bolster their agendas. I'll leave my question around for awhile, in case someone can shed further light. David |
