Hello cleanplateranger,

Great question -

Are you running Windows on this computer? (95, 98, Me, XP, 2000)

I was unable to find any specific information for your Compaq, but
this program should do the trick. It offers the ability to change your
extended keys, but only under Windows 2000 and XP.

PC Magazine - January 14, 2003, TradeKeys v22v01
http://www.pcmag.com/article2/0,4149,19645,00.asp

Please let me know if this fits your operation sytem and requirements,
as I didn't want to offer this as an answer until I am sure of your
Windows version.

Thanks for the clarification -
SgtCory

Hi sgtcory,

Thanks for diving in. TradeKeys does not work for the "Fn" key.

There is a registry hack that can be used to remap keys, but it seems
to be based on the scancodes for traditional keys, and the "Fn" key
>apparently< doesn't produce a standard scancode. I didn't find a
clear explanation of the registry hack or whether / how it might be
applied to the Compaq Evo "Fn" key. You can read about this on the
following thread at annoyances.org:

http://www.annoyances.org/exec/forum/winxp/t1014389848

Figuring out the responses to those registry hack questions could
answer this question. Or there could be something else I don't know
about.

I'm using Win XP.

Thanks!
