Hello phonecenter,
We can sympathize with you completely and your need for a quick
solution, as we have a New Holland 270 baler. We have the 271 manual
that we used for our 270, however, it is in French. We don't know if
the timing for the 268 is the same as for the 270/271.
We have not used our baler for ten years, so our memory is a bit
foggy. The needles, distributor and entry of the plunger all need to
be timed. If you have never done it, you really need either someone
with you who knows how to do it or you will need the photos that go
along with the instructions.
If you think we can be of help, let me know - it would involve quite a
bit of work (typing, taking photos, translating?). However, getting
your hands on the manual is preferred.
"...manuals are still readily available from NH [New Holland]."
"Trip the baler and spin it over a round or 2 by hand to check the
timing and for hard spots. With no hay in it the baler should turn
over and go thru the tying motions with just hand pressure."
