You can break down the parts of the referrer and see what each tells you. "http://mint1" This tells you that the call came from a site named "mint1". My terminology might be a little off, But since the name is not qualified (doesn't have the .com ect) it is being routed by an private network name resolution system. The name mint1 is probably a machine name, but could also be a site name that resolves to a machine. "infobasehome/cgi-bin/" This tells you that the application sits in a directory called infobasehome and then the cgi-bin sub of it. As a general convention, any compiled objects for a web site (called binaries) go in this sub dir. This is done among other reasons because you need to set permissions on the web site to allow exacutables in a dir to run. "MCompete.exe" This is the name of the program that made the call to your site. It could be as simple as just viewing your site to as complex as scanning your site and pulling back data which is processed. Maybe they are looking at the products, prices or services of all of their competitors??? |
