I'm looking for
1. A list of all US Service Sector Businesses by category; i.e.
financial services, banking, insurance etc.
2. A list of Companies in each category.
I already have this url:
http://www.hoovers.com/feature/block/detail/0,2417,18_1757,00.html
I'd like more service sector specific info.

Here's a complete list of the Service Industry Classifications
extracted from NAICS:
http://www.gtwassociates.com/answers/Services/Appendix1.doc

As far as providing a complete list of businesses in each category,
well, it would take _H_O_U_R_S_ to compile that information.

I'm aware of NAICS...i appreciate that it would be a long list. does
such a list exist online anywhere? if not is there a print publication
of some sort?
thanks in advance

The list is here: http://www.census.gov/epcd/naics02/naicod02.htm

To access and compile the complete list, you'll need to click on EACH
numbered link in the left column. Those links lead to all the
sub-classifications that are not showing on the first page.

hi cynthia,
perhaps i haven't made myself clear enough. i know the niacs codes,
categories and subcategories but i am looking for names of individual
companies associated with the various naics service sector categories.
the hoovers site i indicated in my first post lists some but i'm
looking for a more extensive list of companies than found in hoovers
if it exists.
cheers,
bruce

I did understand your request, however, as I mentioned above:

..."As far as providing a complete list of businesses in each
category,
well, it would take _H_O_U_R_S_ to compile that information..."

You may want to change the price of your question to compensate for
the hours it would take to compile the list. Even then, a complete
list would be V_E_R_Y hard to come by.
