In Sound Recorder program that comes bundled with WindowsXP, the
recording stops after one minute and one need to click Record button
every one minute to continue recording. Is there a way to override
that? Note I need to record just dictation (no transcription etc), so
please don’t suggest a complicated solution / software.

Sound Recorder can be accessed as follows on WindowsXP:
Start - All Programs - Accessories - Entertainment - Sound Recorder

Thanks. The Decrease Speed is a clever advice. The Advance Recorder is
a bit annoying in the begining only - it auto-saves files in an
arbitrary folder C:\My Voice Records and auto-chooses the file name
and offers very few choices for formats. A way out is record in
Advance Recorder and open the file in Windows Recorder, then change
the format to MPEG3 (1/6th the file size) or DSP TrueSpeech (1/20th
the size).

The MP3 or wav files can be converted through CD burner OR Windows
Media Palyer as well.

Btw, the MP3 Recorder link does not work.
Many thanks.

Hi,

Have you considered trying any other freeware or shareware sound
recorders for Windows? I can give you a list and you can choose from
them.

Thanks.

To endo: Many thanks. No, I don’t want a list of freeware. It takes
too much time to find good freeware.
To poe: The link works. I installed it successfully but cannot start
it.
When I try to launch it, I get the following message: Unable to
automatically locate your source to record your current PC audio.
Please select a source before recording.

I have emailed the problem to techlogic.
Regards to all.
