As far as building an lcd monitor from scratch... its not something I
would suggest for these reasons.

1) Vendors for the parts are fairly difficult to find
2) If/when you do find one, it would be much cheaper to purchase a new
one.

If you are looking to repair one you are also probably better off
purchasing a new one as well or sending it for vendor service( more
expensive but best option for laptops).
