There are professional services that will transfer your Super 8 movies
to videotape for a reasonable fee. Here's an example:

"Home Movie Film to Video Transfer

Why should I transfer my 8mm home movie film to video?

If you are like most people, it's been a long time since you've seen
your Super8mm films. Getting the projector and screen set up can be a
hassle, and disappointing too, if the projector lamp is burned out or
if the projector eats your precious movies. Having your films
transferred to video will make viewing them so much easier! Also, film
deteriorates over time - and without transferring the film images to
another media such as videotape, they will be lost.

Is this expensive? How much does it cost?

Transferring your old home movies to video is something that you will
likely do only once. It is an investment in your family heritage to
ensure that the precious memories captured on your films are
preserved. Also, video transfer allows you and your family to enjoy
these films using your VCR instead of relying on obsolete film
projectors. The transfer fee is determined by the length of film to be
transferred.

Rates to transfer to videotape:
50' reels - $9 each
200' reels $35 each
400' reels - $45 each
Includes high quality professional Maxell VHS videotape. Minimum six
reels or setup charge of $25 for less than six. Add $15 return
shipping."

Yes, you can hire someone to do it, but if you have more than a
handful, it is a lot cheaper to do it yourself...and it's easy, if you
already have a video camera. If you'd like, I can provide you with
complete instructions on how to do it yourself.

Although you can do the transfer on your own with a telecine type
system, you will never get the quality you would get with a frame to
frame transfer. This method preserves the images at the highest
resolution and places them on miniDV or DVD. There is a network of
companies that can do this for you. Try these groups:
