There was a T-shirt made that said "This is not a Fugazi T-shirt", but
it was in fact, not a Fugazi t-shirt. Apparently the band had nothing
to do with the making of that shirt. It was a bootleg. In fact, at
one point, CDNOW wanted to interview Guy, but he refused to do it
because they were selling the bootlegged shirt (for over $20). He
told them that if they got rid of the shirt, he would do an interview
with them. CDNOW claimed that they were unaware that the shirt was a
bootleg, and to their credit, they dropped the shirt. Guy did the
interview.

There are none listed on eBay currently, nor have any sold in the past
couple of weeks. I'm afraid this will be a difficult search.

first of all, thanks for the response.
i do know that the band had/has nothing to do with the production of
these shirts. i have read, however, some interviews with ian and
others (the one found at
http://www.angelfire.com/nc/killjoycircus/fugazi.html for example) in
which they talk about the original "this is not a fugazi t-shirt"
shirts. apparently, the originals were made by a company called just
say rock in boston. for a brief period, they made the shirts, and
under guidance from the band, donated profits to a local charity.
after they stopped, some other companies began bootlegging the
original bootlegged shirt.

unfortunately, i think you're right about this being a difficult
shirt, but i'm hoping some leads might turn up. i've been a big fan
of the band for a while now, and i used to have one of the shirts. i
guess it's a nostalgia thing...
anyway, thanks again for the comment.
