When I was a kid I heard a song that sang about a dad who went to war
and he did not come back. I think there was a helicopter reference,
and possibly a biblical reference to either peter or paul. that i'm
not sure on. The song is from the little boy's point of view. It
could be the vietnam war. The song has a reference about some priest
or soemthing coming to the door. I have a suspicion the song is
country. I heard the song sometime between 1982 - 1985.
I would like to know the artist and the song title. Oh, and I think
it was a guy who sang the song.

Do you remember any word from the song lyrics that was definitely in
there, and somehow sticking out?
Or do you remember a phrase, like "My father was..." or "My dad didn't
come back"?

I'm sorry, it's so vague now, I'm not sure what the lyrics exactly are.
I'll try and point what I remember:

?"(man) came to the door"..this was the religious reference.

helicopter went down.....
that is all I can come up with. I want to say the word 'dad' or daddy was in
it but not for sure. I no its not the song 'daddy's hands' .
