Greetings, puetzchen!

Because the Google Directory is human-edited, changes to it take some
time, and there is no way for you to replace your URLs
**immediately**. However, I CAN provide you with information on how to
get the changeover made **as soon as possible**. Would you consider
that an acceptable Answer?

If so, please click on "Clarify Answer" here, say that you would like
me to give you information on how to get your Directory listings
changed, list your old URLs, list your new URLs, and I will be
delighted to help you get things straightened around just as quickly
as possible.

Thanks,

aceresearcher

Hi puetzchen ~

Although you mention Google "directory", which does indeed draw on the
dmoz.org Open Directory, I can't help but wonder if you weren't also
referring to Google's search engine as well.

There are a couple of ways you can get your listing(s) changed,
although "immediately" might be a relative term, depending on your own
circumstances.

It would help to have some information from you in order to answer
your question.

1. Are you referring to the Google directory only? Or were you also
referring to a listing in Google's search engine?

2. Do you still own, control and maintain your old URL? And is your
new URL ready for submission to either Google's directory and/or the
search engine?

3. It would help to know the URLs you are referring to in order to
assist in answering your question.

Thanks for your input,
Serenata

Hello,
I sent clarification details some days ago, did you receive them?

Thanks for your message, Christine!

The details accidentally got posted on your other Question, but I
found them:

<< Good morning,
your investigations are completely correct. Some 4-5 months ago
someone deleted my previous homepages
http://immobilien.8m.com (German) and
http://turkeyproperties.8m.com (English)

and I even could not access them to rebuild them under the same
domaine though freeservers confirmed my password to log in was right.
There was no registration time to run out or contract to renew. So I
had to create new domains i.e.
www.expert-immobilien.8m.com and
www.expertproperties.8m.net

and rebuilt my homepages. Now I understand that people working in the
same branch and in the same city as I do took my previous addresses
over and whoever is asking the right words or even my name is arriving
on their homepage.
This is where I need your help. I want to replace in the directory my
URLs as follows:

Old New
http://immobilien.8m.com www.expert-immobilien.8m.com
http://turkeyproperties.8m.com www.expertproperties.8m.net

I appreciate your intensive investigation and hope you can solve this
dilemma.

Thank you - Christine >>

As I stated above, because the Google Directory is human-edited,
changes to it take some time, and there is no way for you to replace
your URLs **immediately**.

However, I can help you get the changeover made as soon as possible.

Here's what you need to do:
--------------------------------------------------------
The English Category where your old listing appears is
http://dmoz.org/Regional/Middle_East/Turkey/Provinces/Aydin/Districts/Kusadasi/Business_and_Economy/Real_Estate

The page to change your listing is here:
http://editors.dmoz.org/cgi-bin/update.cgi?where=Regional/Middle_East/Turkey/Provinces/Aydin/Districts/Kusadasi/Business_and_Economy/Real_Estate

If you input your old URL http://turkeyproperties.8m.com
and click the "Update URL" button, it will take you to a form where
you will be asked to fill out the updated information.

Input the following information or something similar:
--------------------------------------------------------
Site URL: http://turkeyproperties.8m.com
Title: Expert Properties - Christine Altinay
Description: Offers Residential Sales and Holiday Rentals for Villas
and Apartments in Kusadasi, Turkey.

Your E-mail Address: << include your e-mail address here >>
Please describe the nature of your changes:
Someone else took over my **OLD** URL (
http://turkeyproperties.8m.com ), so I need to change my listing to my
**NEW** URL ( http://www.expertproperties.8m.net ).
--------------------------------------------------------

Then you will want to do the same thing for your German website.
The German Category where your old listing appears is
http://dmoz.org/World/Deutsch/Regional/Asien/T%fcrkei/Wirtschaft/Immobilien

The page to change your listing is here:
http://editors.dmoz.org/cgi-bin/update.cgi?where=World/Deutsch/Regional/Asien/T%fcrkei/Wirtschaft/Immobilien

If you input your old URL http://immobilien.8m.com
and click the "URL aktualisieren" button, it will take you to a form
where you will be asked to fill out the updated information.

Input the same information as you did for the English site
(you will want to do this in German):
--------------------------------------------------------
URL der Website: http://immobilien.8m.com
Titel: Immobilien Tuerkei Aegaeis - Christine Altinay
Beschreibung: << In German >> Offers Residential Sales and Holiday
Rentals for Villas and Apartments in Kusadasi, Turkey.

Ihre E-Mail-Adresse: << include your e-mail address here >>
Bitte erläutern Sie Ihre Veränderungen:
Someone else took over my **OLD** URL ( http://immobilien.8m.com ),
so I need to change my listing to my **NEW** URL (
www.expert-immobilien.8m.com ).

Be aware that it may take up to 3 weeks for your changes to take
effect. If a month has gone by, and the changes still haven't been
made, come back to this Question and post a Clarification telling me
about it, and I will help you to contact the appropriate Editors to
determine the status of your change requests.

ONE OTHER NOTE:
I recommend that you contact the people in charge at http://www.8m.com
using this form
http://freeservers.com/cgi-bin/feedback?option=report_a_violation

Report the URLs of your two old sites, and the fact that they were
hijacked by Kusadasi Properties.com . Tell them that you expect them
to implement stricter security procedures so that this does NOT happen
again, and give them the URLs of your new sites. Hopefully, they will
give the hijacker a good spanking, as well as taking extra steps to
protect your domains.

Best Wishes in getting your new sites listed soon in DMOZ and in
receiving increased traffic to your sites!

Hello puetzen.

The Google directory is a mirror of the "Open Directory Project",
located at www.dmoz.org

On that website, you'll find information regarding updating your
listing:
http://dmoz.org/help/update.html

In short:
Simply go to the category which your site is listed, and click the
“update URL” link at the top (on www.dmoz.org).

Best,
Jean-Pierre
