I have an Systemax Ascent tower with which I cannot get the speakers to operate. I have two speakers and a sub-woofer. The subwoofer has a gray output and a purple input and a gray cord with an rca jack at each end. The speakers have three cords...1 double that ends in a single gray rca cord,1 single that ends with a purple rca cord and one single that ends with a green rca cord. The hard drive has 3 upper inputs. One green, one blue and one pink. And five lower inputs (for gaming maybe?).One is black, one is light green, one is pink, one is blue and one is yellow. How do I configure them?I have tried various hook-ups to no avail.(They worked fine before I unplugged them for moving but I cannot remember how they were hooked up. Any help would be highly appreciated. | |

It sounds like you have integrated audio on your motherboard and also a sound card (your SoundBlaster Live) hence the two different sets of ports. You need to figure out which one is being used. The method for doing that depends on your OS (2000, 98, XP, ??). If its the integrated you use the upper ports but I am fairly confident you were probably using the SoundBlaster so its the lower ports (ie ignore the "upper" ones near the USB, Keyboard, Mouse, Parallel, etc. ports) I am having trouble following the description you have for the cables, speakers and subwoofer. It would be really helpful if you could give clearer details about the ports and cables. (For example -- The left speaker has one gray port (female), the righ speaker has one attached cable that ends with a gray end (male) and one green port (female) and the subwoofer has one gray port (female). There are three cables one has two green ends (male), one has two gray ends (male) and one is a Y-cable with 1 gray end (male) going to two purple ends (male). -- This is just an example I'm not sure what you have ^_^) A general rule of thumb when connecting speakers though is to match the colors (remembering to ignore the upper ports). One other thing, do you see any model number on the speakers or subwoofer (on a non-descript label perhaps)? |
