We have gotten an offer to purchase our car over the internet from
someone in the UK. They will be responsible for shipping the car from
my home to the UK.
This person is a sales rep acting on behalf of his client who is
making the purchase. How do I know they are legitimate? We are
suppose to receive a certified check from her Insurance Co. drawn from
an American Bank. How will I know if this is safe?

Is there a way I can check into the company this person works for so I
know he is or his company that he represents is legitimate? For
example in the US we would check with Better Business Bureau. Is there
an organization similar in the UK? Also, will I be able to cash a
check at that particular bank if I don't have an account there? Thank
you

Be very cautious. Counterfeit certified checks are not uncommon. Even
if your bank initially accepts a phony certified check, you can still
lose your money if the check is later determined to be a fraud.

If possible, cash the certified check at the bank which issued it.
