Merritt Butrick most famously appeared in Star Trek movies: The Wrath
of Khan(1982) and The Search for Spock(1984). Also in US tv comedy
series "Square Pegs" (1982 - 83). Later he appeared in a Star Trek:
The Next Generation - episode playing "T'Jon" in episode: "Symbiosis"
(episode # 1.20) 16 April 1988. He also featured in other tv
programmes and films. I have checked out imdb.com and findagrave.com
and found out little about his life.
He died tragically from AIDS 17th March 1989 aged 29. I would like to
have detailed biographical information on him and contact info of
former agents/friends/family.

The detailed biographical information probably will not be a problem;
can you be specific about what information you're looking for? With
regards to contact information of agents, friends, and family, Google
Answers Researchers are prohibited for providing such information.
Did you want to accept a partial answer containing the biographical
information you're searching for, or reprice the question?

The biographical information alone is fine, but I was hoping for
contact info for a former agent(s) - I have seen that some google
answers (see Searching for contact information for Rosie O'Donnell
Question ID: 215994) give this type of information.
With regard the biographical material, I would like: birth/childhood
details; description of family; high schooling; first acting
experiences; college experiences; tv/movie debuts (with anecdotal
evidence); any stories from his time on "square pegs", the Star Trek
movies, and Star Trek: TNG plus any other notable moments; his
homosexuality and coming to terms with AIDS; his death and any
memorial tributes.
Thanks for your time so far. Hope to hear from you soon.

Hi. Regarding the comment from Guillermo - I understand this and would
be happy with agents (if they’re likely to be found). Many thanks.

Applying a simple search in RootsWeb.com, I have found out that
Merritt died in Los Angeles NOT New York as listed in imdb.com. See

Hi Princeturnhan,
Widening the information that Arimathea gave you, GA policies
establishes that no “private information” should be given by a
researcher. The case you mentioned was answered by providing
businesses addresses –please check this quote by Journalist-ga, taken
from her answer to the question you’ve mentioned:
“As you may know, GA Researchers may not provide *private* information
about any persons so I did not attempt to locate information that was
not in normal public view or considered private.”
As to your question, that would make no obstacle regarding agents (if
they’re likely to be found), but makes it more difficult for family
and friends.

Regards,

Guillermo

You may need the assistance of a genealogist to find the information
you seek. You can visit the website www.rootsweb.com, click on the
MESSAGE BOARDS link, enter the keywords "NEW YORK COUNTY" in the "FIND
A MESSAGE BOARD" box, and the next page of hits/results will show a
listing (among many others) for "BOARDS--LOCALITIES--US--NEW YORK--NEW
YORK COUNTY" and post your query there, since you know that he died in
New York City.

SINCERELY,
4keith

Did some cursory searching on the late Mr. Butrick in some standard
reference works and a couple of newspaper/magazine article databases.
No luck so far. You should be aware that 4keith-ga is not a researcher
(GA researchers' ids are hyperlinked in blue). Given the kind of
information you are looking for, I doubt a genealogist would be able
to provide you with the extensive information you want.

You can call the Screen Actor's Guild and they will give you his last
agent's phone number and you can go from there.

I won't provide you with family/friends info, but I can tell you that,
while he was born in Gainesville, FL, Merritt was raised in San
Francisco. He attended the California Institute of the Arts for a
year after graduating high school. While he is well-known for Star
Trek, among other roles, Merritt spent an extensive amount of time
doing theater in California. One of his last roles was in the play
Kingpin in Los Angeles. I have read that Merritt was not actually a
homosexual but acquired a drug habit in the mid-80s. Some sources
claim he had three children, but I have found no verification of that.
 Hope this helps.

Merritt was raised in Mill Valley (north of San Francisco).
