Can someone please give me some in depth info on the connection
between a constables original authority and discretion(to do with
policing). I don't need any definitions. I'm just struggling to fill
the word count, the obvious areas i have already covered. This is
what i have so far. Without discretion there is no Original Authority
and Vice Versa. Original Authority involves officers making
discretionary decisions such as choosing to use deadly force against a
suspect or even disobeying a direction from a superior officer. The
legal basis of an officers discretionary powers is the original
authority the officer holds (Barron et al, 2002, p, 37). These powers
give extensive discretionary authority to each individual officer
(Corbo Crehan, 2002, p, 100). Some juicy stuff would be great |
