I want to know how to find out all the keywords and phrases my website
is currently listed by in Google. I am not interested in information
on achieving top position. I just want to know what keywords Google
associates my site with. Are there any tools or advanced queries I can
use?

Greetings, robderby!

Most major Search Engines no longer use the <meta> keywords and
description to determine relevance because of attempts by webmasters
to "cheat" by "spamming" these fields with hundreds of irrelevant
words.

Search Engines these days index by TEXT. So the "keywords" that Google
associates with your site are those found in your text.

To find out what those keywords are, you can use SearchEngineWorld's
Keyword Density Analyzer at
http://www.searchengineworld.com/cgi-bin/kwda.cgi

For instance, if I plug in the URL http://www.archaeolink.com :
------------------------------------------------------------
Total Words: 93
Occurrences : 292
Count Word Density
----------------------
21 anthropology 7.19%
20 archaeology 6.85%
15 ancient 5.14%
11 resources 3.77%
 8 links 2.74%
 6 civilizations 2.05%
 6 history 2.05%
...

2 Word Phrases: 32
Occurrences : 82
Count Word Density
-----------------------------------
10 archaeology anthropology 12.2%
 6 ancient civilizations 7.32%
 6 anthropology ancient 7.32%
 4 general resources 4.88%
 2 ancient civilization 2.44%
 2 ancient history 2.44%
...

3 Word Phrases: 18
Occurrences : 43
Count Word Density
--------------------------------------------
6 archaeology anthropology ancient 13.95%
5 anthropology ancient civilizations 11.63%
2 ancient times ancient 4.65%
2 anthro tech month 4.65%
2 anthropology history scholarships 4.65%
...
------------------------------------------------------------

If you plug your own URL into the analyzer, you will be able to see
what Google will index as your site's "keywords".

I hope that this information has provided you with exactly the
information that you needed!

So, what you're saying is that there is no way to know exactly which
keywords/phrases the search engines are picking up? Do they not store
keywords and instead search text they've catalogged for the
words/phrases searched on by users? I'm really confused about how this
works.

robderby,

What I'm saying is that if your site has been indexed by Google, it
has already been indexed by ALL the different words and phrases that
you see when you plug your URL into the Keyword Density Analyzer.
However, Google will figure that the words which appear 3 or 4 times
are much more important and relevant to your site than the words which
appear only once.

For instance, take this site:
http://www.expertlaw.com

For this site, the Keyword Density Analyzer shows:
Total Words: 31
Occurrences : 127
Count Word Density
------------------
13 expert 10.24%
 9 legal 7.09%
 9 private 7.09%
 8 witnesses 6.3%
 7 attorneys 5.51%
 6 directory 4.72%
...
2 Word Phrases: 19
Occurrences : 57
Count Word Density
-----------------------------
8 expert witnesses 14.04%
5 expert witness 8.77%
5 litigation support 8.77%
4 legal humor 7.02%
4 private investigator 7.02%
3 private investigators 5.26%
...

If I Google on
directory of expert witnesses
://www.google.com/search?q=directory+of+expert+witnesses
this site ( www.expertlaw.com ) is the 5th Result.

If I Google on
private investigators
this site is the 16th Result.

If I Google on
legal humor
://www.google.com/search?q=legal+humor
this site is the 3rd Result.

You can see that Google has indexed this site based on the keywords
appearing in its text.

If you still have questions about this information, please post
