Good afternoon,

I am looking for a message of genealogical forum I have seen tree
months before. I can't remember the year that the message has been
written. It was about two french of France that have immigrated in
Canada or United States at the end of 19th century or at the beginning
of the 20th century. Hughes was born in Grillon (Dept. #13, Vaucluse,
France) on 1856, august, 18th and Roustan in Valreas (Dept. #13,
Vaucluse, France) on 1862, february, 9th. They have quit France from
Marsielle (dept.#13, Bouches-du-Rhône, France). In France, the man was
called Auguste Charles Hughes and the woman Marie Vicente Roustan. The
names changes because immigration. The message said not all the
informations I have said before. The descendants doesn't know all it. It
said a few of these informations. It had no birth date. As I could
remember, the name of the man was translated to Archibald or Archie
Hughes or Huges. The name of the woman could have changed to Marie or
Mary Rustin or Rustan or Rusten or Ruston or Rushton or Rousten or
Roustin. She might also be called Marie or Mary Hughes. The message
said they were french and that they might be from France. I think the
message don't comes from Genealogy.com. I have try to search them in
that without success.

Thanks a lot for help ! Have a good day !

Hi Nathalie,

Several of us have done some research on your question and we would
really appreciate it if you could post a clarification. It would be
very helpful if you could separate what you know from what you
actually read, and put it in list form, rather than sentences. For
example, here is what I understand from your message so far.

The forum posting that you are looking for included the words:

1. Archibald or Archie Hughes or Huges
2. Marie or Mary Rustin or Rustan or Rusten or Ruston or Rushton or
Rousten or
Roustin
3. French or France

The things you knew at the time that might have helped you find the
forum but weren't actually mentioned in the forum:

1. Auguste Charles Hughes
2. Marie Vicente Roustan
3. Grillon
4. Grillon

Separating what you knew from what you actually read is very important
and we appreciate the time it will take to do this.

Can you think of any other words that were in the forum post?
What type of forum was it? A genealogy site or something more general?
How did you find it? By searching in Google or some other way?
What were you searching for? The family name of Hughes?
I'm assuming the forum was an English site, right?
If anything else comes to your mind, please let us know.

Thank you,
hummer

Hi,

	Thanks for help !

What I know

-birth dates, location of christening
-Auguste Charles Hughes
-Marie Vicente Roustan
-get divorced in 1900, August, 1th at Valreas (Dept 84, Vaucluse,
France). I omit to say it. Exccuse me. If you find information on the
divorce, tell me.
-came to America together or separately
-don't know if they got children It's all I know.

What I have read

-Archi or Archibald Hughes or Huges
-Mary or Marie all the names. It might includes Hughes and Huges.
-maybe a mention they get divorced en 1900. I am not sure.
-might be french or come from France.

As I could remember, it was a genealogy site in english something like
genealogy.com. I have done research in deja.com. I can't remember the
others sites. It was exclusively in english. I think it was american
or canadian sites.
It might be a forum on Hughes or Huges family. It might also be a
forum on one of the names for Marie Roustan. I insist on the might be.
 It's all I have read.

Tell me everything you find please. Thanks a lot ! Have a good day !

Hi Nathalie - Just a note to thank you for your clarifications, if you
think of anything else, be sure to let us know. You have posted a
real challange and I'm sure several researchers will have a look as

Hi,

I am glad it helps. Look for others forums than usenet please.
Another note: I can't leave of my mind I saw that message in
Genealogy.com on the Huges or Hughes forum. I have done a great
search in the forums of all the names for Roustan and concluded it
can't be there (I am talking of Genealogy.com). It might be in the
forums of Hughes or Huges (in Genealogy.com).

	Thanks.

Which genealogy forums, besides Genealogy.com, have you looked at? If
you list every forum you can think of, we could search them.

Also, could you tell us which forums you look at most often (besides
Genealogy.com), or that you looked at most often around the time you
saw that message?

I just realized that you already indicated which forums you have
looked at -- I apologize for not reading this thread more carefully.

Perhaps if you try again to retrace your steps, you might think of
other forums you looked at three months ago.

Hi,

The problem is I can't remember the forums. I tell you some but I am
not quite sure of it. It was a forum of genealogy. It might be a
forum oh the Hughes or Huges family. That day, I did a great search
and I can't remember all.

	Thanks !

Clarification of Question by harel-ga on 29 Jun 2003 07:24 PDT
HI,

I remember the page of the forum looks like those of Genealogy.com:
every lines were had the same space. They were aligned to the left
and risght. The look was not like usenet. I am sorry for that
confusion. But, it might be Genealogy.com OR ANOTHER FORUM THAN
GENEALOGY.COM. I can't say which one.

	Thanks ! Have a nice day !

Clarification of Question by harel-ga on 29 Jun 2003 07:34 PDT
HI,

I rectify what I have tell you. Every line were aligned to the right
not to the left like it is in Genealogy.com. It MIGHT BE ANOTHER FORUM
THAN GENEALOGY.COM. This time, I can't tell you more. Do the best you
can. Thanks.

Nathalie, what browser do you use? Netscape? Internet Explorer? Also,
are you using Windows 98? If not, what? I'm not trying to be nosey,
it's just a little idea another researcher had to try and help you and
we need to know what you are using.
Don't worry, your question doesn't expire until July 27.

Hi Nathalie,

The chances are good that we are too late for this, but have you tried
searching for any clues on your computer? It will be a miracle if
anything is still there, given you went to the forum three months ago,
but miracles do sometimes happen.

1) For Communicator 4.5:
From the Communicator menu, select Tools, then History.

2) Viewing Cookies & Temporary Internet Files (Windows 95, 98 & Me)
  1. Click Start / Settings / Control Panel.
  2. Double-click Internet Options.
  3. Click General / Temporary Internet / Settings button.
  4. Click the View Files button in the Temporary Internet files
folder section.
Have a look at all of the files to see if you can find anything
helpful. If there are many files there, you can sort them by date to
make it easier.

Thanks to knowledge_seeker-ga for this idea.

Good luck, hummer

Clarification of Question by harel-ga on 13 Jul 2003 12:22 PDT
Hi,

I have look to the history of communicator 4.5. I have found nothing.
But I have all the files I put in the internet trash since two years.
I have look in that. I remember that I have subscribed to Ancestry.com
and Mytrees.com at the beginning of this year. It was the time I
start doing research about Marie Rusten etc. I also subscribed to
U.S.YahooGroups. I wait for your answer. Thanks a lot !

Hi Nathalie,

I'm sorry for not responding to your clarification sooner but I have
nothing new to report. Rest assured, when you post a clarification,
all of the researchers that have requested more information are
informed that you made a new post.

I promise to have another look, taking your new info into account.

Clarification of Question by harel-ga on 16 Jul 2003 19:24 PDT
Hi,

I have done research on my side in genealogy.com. I have found in
World Family Tree they have data on Mary Rustain, a woman that lived
between 1800 and 1899. I have look to the informations about the tree.
It says that persons has some french of France in her genealogy.
Could you check in the forum of Genealogy.com if you find informations
about her. Check in Hughes forum or in Rustain forum.

In Genealogy.com, I saw also a Archibald Hughes. On the page, the
name of his wife was partially blocked by a piece of paper. As I can
see, the last part of the name is tain or taing. Check that but I
think it is in Ohio on 1906.

Thanks a lot !

Hi there,

For the past while I've been searching various combinations of the
names without much luck.

Unfortunately, I do not have recent subscription to Genealogy.com
necessary to view the data about Archibald Hughes. However, I have
checked the forums for Mary Rustain and Archibald Hughes and there
does not seem to be any useful information in the Hughes or Rustain
forums.

Before going any further, I just wanted to ask, what exactly would you
like in your answer?

Best regards,
Tox-ga

Clarification of Question by harel-ga on 17 Jul 2003 03:28 PDT
Hi Tom,

In response to your question, I want to know the name they take
coming to Ameica. I eant also to contact their descendants or
relatives. In second, if it is possible, I would like to have data
about them from archives. When did they come to America ? Where did
they stay ? Did they get children ? When did they die ? Do you think
you can search that ? Anyway, if you can find just the first part of
my answer, it would be very great.

	Thanks a lot !

Nathalie

Clarification of Question by harel-ga on 17 Jul 2003 03:40 PDT
Hi,

In contacting descendants or relatives of Mary Rustain, don't forget
to say Auguste Charles Hughes might be Archibald, Archi, Charles or
August Hughes.

	Thanks !

In response to your message of 02 July, I have not made any new
searches. Perhaps other Researchers have; but I suppose that they
have not found anything yet.

Hi Nathalie,

Just a note to let you know that I'm sorry to say I haven't any news
personally, although I have probably spent a good eight hours on your
question. However, just because you haven't heard anything from any of
us, it doesn't mean that your question isn't being worked on. It is a
difficult search at best, something like finding the needle in the
haystack, so don't keep your hopes up too high but we haven't given up
yet.

Sincerely,
hummer
