We have set up a small organisation called the Quarry and Concrete
Family Alliance which comprises of small and middle sized quarry and
concrete company owners, to protect ourselves from large multinational
vertically integrated companies. Ireland is rife with cartel activity
especially in the cement industry, which has many secretly owned
concrete converters to guarantee market share to the cement companies,
see German and EU cartel fines.
The only company that will deal with insuring public and employers
liability is owned by a cement company and the other dominant player
has directors on the main bank boards.
The Q.C.F.A. as we call ourselves is looking for a company to
underwrite our businesses and offer value for money on insurance in
Ireland, which is a closed shop to those who need it at the moment.
We would also be prepared to act as brokers and do the ground work
offering best practice advice, Health and Safety and legal advice.
Is there anyone on this planet willing to negotiate with the QCFA and
get public and employers liability as well as other products in
Ireland in the Quarry and Concrete sector?

Hello there, and thanks for what seems a very interesting question.

But I have to confess to only half-understanding (maybe even less than
half!) what it is you're after.

Are you looking for financial assistance, i.e. a bank loan? If so,
what has been your experience to date in approaching potential
financiers?

And if you're looking for something else, well, I guess that's where
the waters are a bit muddy for me. Can you perhaps spell out in more
detail just what type of help you would like from the researchers here
at Google Answers.

With a bit more information, perhaps one of us can assist you in your
battle against the big guys.

Thanks.

A pafalafa, a chara,

We are looking for an independent insurance company to enter the Irish
marketplace and underwrite businesses. We have spoken with consumer
associations in Ireland representing all sorts of markets who assure
that a potential independent insurance company would generate massive
business extending into the EU.

Germany's insurers face cartel crackdown
By Danielle Rossingh (Filed: 23/07/2003)Telegraph

The German Federal Cartel Office yesterday accused seven of the
country's largest insurers of price-fixing, sending stocks down on the
German bourse over fears the already fragile industry may face
multi-million euro fines.

A spokeswoman for the Bundeskartellamt in Bonn said so-called "letters
of accusation" had been sent out to the insurers, which include
Allianz, AXA, Aachener und Munchener Versicherung, Gothaer, Victoria
(a subsidiary of Munich Re), Gerling and HDI.

Allianz and Gerling, expected to receive the biggest penalties, said
they had already allocated provisions. A spokesman for Allianz, the
country's largest insurer, said: "We have made provisions as a
precautionary measure without this being an admission of guilt.

"We will have to see what kind of fines the cartel office levies and
then we will be able to decide whether we accept them or appeal
against them."
