How do you tune-in a sanyo telly, model no. ce14m2b

Bought & being used in UK

It's a smallish (19 inch maybe) colour TV of we think, late
eighties/early nineties vintage, grey plastic case

Friend of mine has just bought an old sega games console. It works
fine on the downstairs telly, but we can't figure out how to tune-in
the upstairs telly to it which is the sanyo referred to above. Very
inscrutable set of box controls & we can't figure out the remote
either!

Wondering if there's some kind of magic keypress sequence to bring up
a tuning menu, or a hidden trapdoor on the set somewhere..

Had a brief g00g1e search on the model number alone, and also with the
quoted phrases "user manual" and "manual", hoping to find some
instructions but, alas no joy. Maybe someone will have better luck
than me, or perhaps you even have the same model of TV & know how to
work it!

Thanks for reading..

Apologies for late breaking info, I hope any researcher working on my
question might chance to see this clarification as it might help
identify the particular type of remote control; I'm thinking possibly
there might be different types??

Just been on the 'phone to my friend who has given me a verbal
description of the buttons present on her remote, hope it may be of
some help..

A few suggestions for you, gan.

It does not sound as if the remote will do the job for you, though
there is a chance the P<>P program buttn might do it. Suggest you
find an unused channel or duplicate channel and give it a try - does
the program change? does it look as if the tv is looking for another
signal? (alternatively, does this bring up a menu from which you can
then begin to work?)

Second thought: some UK tvs of this era had separate buttons for each
channel and you could turn each button to tune into the various
stations (not many, this being the UK). We had a six button set for
many years, and used the first four buttons for BBC1, BBC2, ITV and
channel 4, and used button 6 to connect to the VCR channel.

Third: as you suggest, many tvs of the time had a trapdoor - behind
which were the tuning buttons. Usually at the front of the set. Are
there any press-here spots, possibly textured rather than smooth, on
the case?

Fourth thought: does your friend with the remote have a manual?
Fifth: does she know how to tune her telly?
(Have to ask, just to eliminate those possibilities.)

Have you tried your neighbourhood tv shop (not Dixons or Comet, the
small one man shop just outside the city centre)?

Have you contacted sanyo to ask if they can help?
