In financial analysis, the so-called "Du Pont Identity" is a method of breaking down and analysing a given Return on Equity (ROE) into three descriptive components. I want to know where this came from. Why is it called the "Du Pont" identity? Since when is it called this? Was it first used by financial analysts at the Du Pont company? Du Pont has a financial management division previously called Pension Fund Investments now called DuPont Capital Management; did this group have anything to do with coining the phrase or popularizing the method? |
