Looking for a schedule of meetings for the Socrates Cafe, I used the
search words "Christopher Phillips" and "Berkeley." The odds of
finding a group like this on the UC Berkeley Campus seemed a fair bet.
This group orginally met at Cafe Elodie, which has now closed. They
are now meeting at the Au Coquelet Cafe, according to this website:

and their next meeting is July 9, 2003 at 6:30 p.m.

These are the only regularly scheduled meeting of Cafe Socrates in the
Bay Area that I've been able to locate; this after searching on
individual cities within Marin County
(http://proagency.tripod.com/ca-marincounty.html). I would certainly
confirm any of these meeting times and places before attending and I
indeed hope one is in your backyard. One would hope Mr. Phillips
would faciliate a meeting in one of the venues mentioned above, but he
travels extensively, so there could be no guarantee of his attendance.
