Hello zaideh,

Looking for a schedule of meetings for the Socrates Cafe, I used the
search words "Christopher Phillips" and "Berkeley." The odds of
finding a group like this on the UC Berkeley Campus seemed a fair bet.
This group orginally met at Cafe Elodie, which has now closed. They
are now meeting at the Au Coquelet Cafe, according to this website:
and their next meeting is July 9, 2003 at 6:30 p.m.

Christopher Phillips (from the Edge website)

These are the only regularly scheduled meeting of Cafe Socrates in the
Bay Area that I've been able to locate; this after searching on
individual cities within Marin County
( I would certainly
confirm any of these meeting times and places before attending and I
indeed hope one is in your backyard. One would hope Mr. Phillips
would faciliate a meeting in one of the venues mentioned above, but he
travels extensively, so there could be no guarantee of his attendance.

If you need further clarification or if I can help you further in any
way, please post a note through the clarification area and I'll be
happy to follow-up. Thank you for this most interesting question

It was my pleasure to help you and I hope there is a meeting listed
near you. From what I read while researching your question, some
people meet in individual homes and for safety reasons may not choose
to post a location. Hopefully subscribing to that yahoo group will
keep you updated on any groups in your area.

Mr. Phillips is doing a wonderful thing bringing philosophy to the
people and I enjoyed reading about him as I researched your question.
Here's an interesting article he wrote for Troika magazine.
I think he has also written for Tricycle, a Buddhist publication, as

Best wishes to you,
