Hi Sandy,

I'm fairly sure this refers to a comet, but have had no luck finding
any major upcoming comet appearances. I thought it may be the comet
Linear-Neat, due to appear July 8 or 9, but that particular comet has
a tail.

I have nothing to base this guess on but it might be worth a shot.
Perhaps it is the official unveiling of the new X-36 Tailless Fighter
Jet:

Not a comet, and not the official unveiling of the new X-36 fighter.
Any other thoughts on this?
Thank You.

There is a lunar eclipse on November 8, 2003. Is this what you are after?

How about the letter "R" ?

i think that the "R" answer may be right... here's why :
the only month which has more than 8 letters is September. the letter
R is "on" the letter E, without having a "tail", only a long "head"
("septembe").

I think the letter "R" answer is a good answer but the questions
specifically says
You may see it on the 8th of a month this year and it won't have a
tail what is it?

The specific date 8th of the month makes me question how the "R" could
be the right answer?

Any thoughts?

...on the 8th of "a month" --the 8th letter of November or December.
The letter "R" has no tail -- whereas g, j, p, q, & y Do have tails.
Just a play on words. Let me know if it turns out to be right and I'll
post it in the Answer box.

Question: You may see it on the 8th of a month later this year and it
won't have a tail what is it?
Response: This is a play on words-on the 8th of "a month" the 8th
letter of November or Deceber
The letter "R" has no tail--whereas g, j, p, q & y do have tails.
THIS IS NOT THE CORRECT ANSWER.
