Dear pericles,
Since our knowledge of the Sun's chemical composition is, so far,
based upon the interpretation of spectral analysis, the results are
only estimates. Nevertheless, the general picture of what elements
make the sun in what percentages is relatively reliable.
Two elements alone make up almost 99% of the Sun's mass: Hydrogen (ca.
74%) and Helium (ca. 25%). The small rest is composed from shares of
numerous elements, such as Iron, Titanium, Oxygen, and also Gold.
The percentage of Gold ist, compared to the Sun's total mass, tiny: 5
x 10 -10 percent. (with the "-10" being the potence factor of 10).
