Hi,

Here's my setup. Cable Modem>Wireless (802.11b Router)>Linksys VPN
router. The VPN Router is on the wireless router's DMZ. I am trying to
setup a VPN for two scenarios: 1. To vpn when at home connected to the
wireless router to the vpn router because of WEP's lax security. 2. To
VPN from various different hotspots remotely to use my home's internet
connection. I've tried two versions (1.3 and 1.4) of SSL Sentinal, but
they somehow cause DHCP to fail and my wireless card gets an Automatic
Private Address, therefore killing the internet connection. Does
anybody know of another client (XP's client would be great, but I
don't think the router supports the XP VPN clients authentication) and
how to configure it for this configuration and these scenarios?

Interesting setup. In this scenario, I would probably first change
the wireless router to use bridging (aka switch or non-routing) mode,
so it acts like an access point only. Then I would probably setup the
linksys to be the only router for internet access and be directly
connected to the cable modem. Though I'm not sure whether this will
solve your connectivity problems but having 2 routers linked to each
other would be simpler to manage overall.

Thanks for the response. I tried placing the linksys after the cable,
before the wireless, but it doesn't have a "router/switch" option like
the linksys does. But the linksys is on the wireless's DMZ, so
shouldn't it be as if it were directly connected to the cable modem?

Realize that you can only use your home's internet connection if you
dial in or are close enough to the wireless router. However you may
have success by using the wireless router in bridge mode connected to
the dmz (or more preferably uplink if it has one I'm not familiar with
that model) on the vpn enabled router. Then setup the vpn on the
router to go to the pc you want to connect to, then xp's vpn client
SHOULD work. For your internet access just connect your cable modem to
the wireless router. It would work in a normal situation. To vpn
across the wireless just reverse the routers positions and use the
same setup. Placing the wireless one on the "firewalled" side of the
vpn router connecting the vpn router to the uplink on the wireless. Be
sure to turn off dhcp on the vpn router and set up vpn as you normally
would and that will protect vpn across wireless.

Sorry for the lenghty and possibly confusing response.
