Outlook send receive problems (Version Outlook 2002 (10.4712.4219)
SP-2

OS Name	Microsoft Windows XP Professional
Version	5.1.2600 Service Pack 1 Build 2600

When proceeding to:

Go Tools > options > Mail Setup > Send Receive > Edit > Account
Properties > POP E-mail;

I correct the mispelling of my name, then I carry on to > Connection
ticking 'connect using my phone line and selecting modem' and then;

> advanced selecting 'Remove copy messages after 10 days and remove
from Server when deleted from Deleted Items'.

With these alterations, I then proceed backwards to close for saving.

Without closing Outlook these alterations are in place.

HOWEVER, ONCE I CLOSE OUTLOOK, THEY ARE ALL LOST.

HOW CAN I CORRECT THIS TO PERMANENTLY SAVE?

In the "Send/Receive Groups" box that comes up, try try clicking on
"New..." and give the account a name. It will bring up a new window
for the settings on that account. Check the box for "Include account
in this send/receive group" and then click the button "Account
Properties" and set everything up the way that it needs to be for your
e-mail account/internet connection.

This should add a new account and save the settings so that they will
be there the next time that you open Outlook

if that does not work then try this route...
Tools --> E-mail Accounts --> View or change existing e-mail accounts
--> Next

In the next window a list of your existing e-mail accounts set up in
Outlook should be displayed. Select the one that you are trying to
configure and then click the button change. There you should be able
to change your name and a few other settings. Make sure these
settings are correct for your e-mail account and then click on the
"More Settings ..." button. In the new window under the General Tab
make sure that your name is correct. Then click on the Connection Tab
and complete the settings for your modem and internet connection.
Once this is done hit the OK button and that window will go away.
Then Click the NEXT button on the E-mail accounts window. Now click
the Finish button on the E-mail Accounts window and that should be it.
 Close Outlook and re-open it and you should have your settings saved
with your new configuration.

Hi,
Thanks for your response. The Microsoft Answer is
In your case you have indicated that account settings seem to be lost.

Please start Outlook by going to Start...Run and typing outlook /safe
then clicking ok. Go to Tools...Email Accounts...View or change
existing email accounts
Choose the correct account then click on Change, make sure all
settings are ok then click on More Settings...Advanced and make sure
that's alright then click OK...Next and Finish. It will only show the
Next button if all the details are in and correct so by going back you
are losing any changes.

and it worked perfectly.

Yhanks again.
