I tried to eliminate telemarketer calls by going to www.donotcall.gov.
However, each time I tried, it was denied. I kept trying, and
finally when I did get through I was told that I had called too many
times and they could not accomodate my request, although it was never
activated. What can I do to effect this change. I am elderly,in poor
health, and have in the past received such calls at 4:00 a.m. It is
very important to have these calls elimiated.

Hello.

There are two ways to add your telephone number for the Do Not Call
list registry:

(1)
Go to this web site:
http://www.donotcall.gov/register/Reg.aspx

Enter your 3-digit area code in the box labeled "Area Code." Do NOT
include "1" before your area code.

Enter your 7-digit telephone number in the box labeled "Phone." It's
not necessary to enter a dash. For example, if your telephone number
is 555-1234, just enter 5551234 .

Enter your email address in the box labeled "Email Address."

Wait a few minutes. Check your email and open the message from the Do
Not Call Registry. Click on the link in the message to confirm the
registration.

         OR
-----------------------

(2)
Call 1-888-382-1222 (until July 7, 2003, you have to be west of the
Mississippi to use this number)

You have to be calling from the number that you want to register

Press 1 for English instructions

Press 1 to register your telephone

When prompted, enter you 10-digit phone number (i.e., 3-digit area
code, plus 7-digit telephone number). Do NOT include "1" before your
area code. If your telephone number is (408)555-1111, just enter
4085551111 .

----------------------------

Within the last few minutes, I personally tested both of these
methods. I was able to add several of my telephone numbers to the
registry.

Everything seemed to work fine. On the telephone call, though, the
recorded voice indicated that high volume might cause registry
activations to take up to 24 hours.

I advise you to select ONE of the two methods that I've described
above, and carefully follow the instructions. Both methods worked for
me, so you shouldn't have any problems. If difficulties persist,
though, please let me know, and I'll be happy to provide additional
assistance. Good luck!

I may have misunderstood - but if you have already registered once, it
is good for 5 years. It will NOT take effect for a few months,
October I believe. So adding it again won't help or speed it up.

You would be surprised how effective this is. Really. I went from 20
calls a week maybe three per month.
